Welcome Robert Kas as apprentice blogger, I'm sure he will do well.
Cheers Geoff.

Recently Wednesday

Ian is building a very large Waco biplane, they were originally radial engined, so Ian has a lovely 7 cylinder radial to be installed.
A very long time ago we saw and heard it run in a test setup.
Since then it refused to start again, so it was sent off to agents and has been returned, so let us keep everything crossed for Ian.
Yes.... that is a smile during setting up.

RUNNING!
Looking so nonchalant, or COOL in todays vernacular, we knew it would perform.
The sound is FABULOUS.

Wednesday Wonder

At long last Kim and David managed to get together to maiden Kims FW 190!

Let's get this started.

Running nicely.

LIFT OFF!

And away we go.

Looking good.

Very good.

Touchdown.

Who's a happy boy then?
Me too.

Sunday scene

Sunday was much better wind-wise than Willy predicted, which was just as well, because a BBQ lunch was organised to be followed by an auction of "Stuff" donated by various people.
Nice weather meant a good turn-up.
Brian has been at it again.
Flies nicely.
Landing?

Apprentice cruising piloted by Rob K.
Welcome back Darcy and Tony W. -  Ralph and Andy catch up.
Teddy and Tom.

The Auction.

About one million magazines, quite a lot of infernal combustion engines, many of them new-in-box and loads of bits and pieces which we have ALL accumulated over the years.

All in all, a friendly and successful day, which raised a very nice amount of money for the club.

Weird Wednesday

Well, weird is probably most descriptive of this model, which David aquired and has tuned up.

He has no idea of its name, only that it is completely asymmetrical.
The engines are both 4 stroke, of different capacity, swinging different size props. The wings are swept forward, of different span and take a look at the tail feathers.
It flies rather well and is quite fast, the sound is like nothing else, we think that's because of the prop overlap .......maybe.

Mid May Muster

GREAT MID MAY WEATHER OF COURSE.
Neighbours

Two nosy neighbours flew by to see what was happening.

We had several pilots from Latrobe Valley Club, they seem to always send some support and we appreciate their presence.

One visitor from Yarra Valley Club, very glad that he made the effort to travel the distance.

With the marvellous weather, there was plenty of aviation going on all day.

I don't think anyone missed out on a flight, but Cameron arrived and unpacked his trailer, to discover that the wing for his lovely Eindekker was not present and a hurried trip home was called for.

The spectator attendance was very good, but viewing spaces were not stretched by any means.

Here are some (most) of my photos of the day.

Thanks Brian for this one.

Which one was doing the flying?

Brians Westland Wyvern hurtles past.

David (top) and Wayne put on a great show all day, many thanks guys.

Winners are grinners.
Let's hope that we can get a lot more participants next year.
Thanks to everyone who came along to help make it a special day, especially Sandra and Carole-Anne plus their helpers for great food!

Wonderous Wednesday

Why?  Well you may ask.
Look at this, Kim brought out his '109' ( or is it 190) I disremember, seems the engine needs to be started and run.
Much interest in seeing it start up.
Turning - turning - not much noise!
Finally - success! I went home - way too much excitement for me.
Turns out the OS engine, just like the dead stick Kevin C had last week, the carburettor was LOOSE!
Tighten the bolts and VOILA, it runs very much more nicely.
Infernal combustion strikes again. A supply of electrons anyone?
