Swamps Sunday

SWAMPS Club Memorial Day for David Chigwidden was not the best for weather, just look at the sock here.

Undeterred, some aviation was committed prior to lunch.
Basic necessities here.
Fred wove magic at the BBQ and it wasn't long before a gourmet luncheon was on the table and everyone got stuck in.

After lunch, sitting and chatting, one of the members disappeared and returned with containers of scones, a bucket of cream and a jar of jam.
WOW in 6 foot high red and gold plastic letters..... worlds greatest scones, topped with perfectly whipped cream, with (I think) just a touch of vanilla essence therein, the strawberry jam was a delight too. Fabulous!!!

Alex had said to Fred that it would be really good to fly "Uncle Bob", a Howard something, it hadn't been out of the shed for a long time, so Fred had done a few jobs on it and it was time to see if it would still fly.

And fly it did! Many hearts were in mouths of spectators and Fred alike, with the wind suddenly gaining strength and blowing even this large model about.
Landings were experienced, and third try lucky as Fred finally got it to stay on the ground.
I had a great day and the hospitality was excellent, many thanks to all the 'Swampies'.

More

Ian Waters sent some more pics of the RFDS luncheon.

Last Wednesday quite a few members turned up despite the weather.

Ralph with his latest "creation".
I hope it will fly well.

Special Sunday

Today was Special in that it was RFDS (Royal Flying Doctor Service) day and club family day.
Donating $5 to RFDS and having a nice time with family was accomplished in typical fashion with a table groaning under a wonderful quantity of excellent quality food, provided by the catering committee as only they can do.

Special guests were Alex and Bec Chigwidden; unfortunately the weather conspired to stymie Alexs' ambition to fly his model, but at a next time, I am sure this will be accomplished.
Alex and Bec.

Wonderful Food
There was no shortage of conversation.

If anyone went hungry or short of chats then it was their own fault.
A WONDERFUL EXERCISE IN CAMARADERIE AND FUNDRAISING.

Windy Wednesday

A few diehar enthusiastic pilots turned up today despite the bloody cold wind.
David C is flying in this shot, shame the sock isn't very clear; when I departed Kevin M was flying his 'Triple stabilised Apprentice', I hope he landed it in one piece.

Wednesday wonder

What wonderful weather, although a tad wet underfoot. A good crowd turned up to enjoy.

Port engine stopped instead of idle - remainder of landing got a tiny bit messy.

Work and play.

Thursday saw some members gathering to roof the area between the shed and container.

A couple of blokes assembled new PV Panels to give a lot more grunt to the bore pump.

While on SATURDAY, other blokes sizzled their way to a very tidy sum.

A rare sight!

Today was another excellent day for weather and we had plenty of pilots raring to go.
RARE WAS RIGHT!
LOOK AT THIS
You are NOT dreaming, Graeme proves that the Skyraider is not epoxied into the trailer. David C was coerc  politely requested to see if aviation was possible.
And away into the blue.

 Yes, aviation is definitely possible.
Time to head back.

Nearly there.

Ground effect - woo hoo!

Okay that's got the dust off - now back in the trailer with you.

July Wet

A couple of photos from Graeme B taken 6th July.
Our water over Bengworden Road

Why the driveway is minus some gravel.

A lot of water out there.

Car park 'riverbed'.

Pits being a river.
Great photos, thanks Graeme.
